Fried foods, and multiple food vendors, in a carnival style setting and add some demolition derby and the rodeo, and you will get the idea. That’s the OC Fair which has been going strong since 1889. It starts in July and ends on August 12.
GREASE 40th Anniversary Screening – Samuel Goldwyn Theater (August 15, 2018)
Dust off those leather jackets and tease your hair into a pompadour style, because this time, when you join the crowd for a sing-along of “Summer Lovin’” the actual Sandy and Danny will be in attendance. That’s right, superstars John Travolta (as Danny), and Olivia Newton John (as Sandy) from the original 1978 film, Grease, will be there along with Barry Pearl, Didi Conn and the film’s director Randal Kleiser for an unforgettable evening celebrating the pop culture phenomenon that will not fade away. Hosted by comedienne Margaret Cho, this 40th anniversary screening will be a hoot and a sold out event.
Panic at the Disco – Staples Center (August 15, 2018)
This American pop, synth-pop, and rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada rose to fame with singles like “I write Sins Not Tragedies,” earning a double-platinum album with their debut. Helmed by singer, Brandon Urie, PaD will tour in support of its latest album Pray for the Wicked. There will be no shortage of spectacle and showmanship with Urie as the band’s energetic front man.
Ed Sheeran at the Rose Bowl Stadium (August 18, 2018)
You know you’re a big deal when you get ready to perform at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and that’s exactly what Ed Sheeran, the British pop-sensation will be doing. Performing chart-topping hits like “Galway Girl,” “Shape of You,” “Perfect,” and “Photograph” for his diehard fans in a magical, under-the-stars setting. Sheeran, now decorated with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and multiple musical awards, will bring the crowd at the legendary stadium to its feet.

English crooner, Sam Smith will hit the stage at the Staples Center in Downtown L.A., later in the month of August performing some of his big hits such as “Lay Me Down,” “Stay with Me,” “I’m Not the Only One.” Smith has won multiple prizes at Billboard awards, Brit awards, Grammy awards, and even a Golden Globe and an Academy Award (Oscar trophy) for “Writings on the Wall,” the theme song to the 2015 James bond film Spectre.
Sunset Concerts – Skirball Cultural Center (until August 30, 2018)
With the arrival of summer comes the annual free concert series presented at the Skirball Center, featuring a variety of artists from the indie, folk, and world music genres. Get there early and visit the museum galleries. Encouraged to dance, sing along and get closer to the stage for more of an up close experience.
